EAS has Fallen


The movie looks good, but it's advertisements pose a problem to radio and television stations carrying it. The spot contains actual EAS tones a violation of FCC regulations.  Radio magazine investigated the spot and determined the following:
"The tones sound like they are quicker that real tones, but not pitch shifted. Radio magazine attempted to have the tones decoded. The results: They're incomplete tones for a required monthly test (RMT) in Virginia."
Because of the EAS hacking incidents only two weeks ago it is considered highly likely that the FCC will not ignore this. The fines could be as high as $8,000 per incident. The film opens March 22 and this of course will only earn it further press. You can see the spot below:
