Norman Bel Geddes' Radio
It look's a little greenish to me but that radio is supposed to be red, white & blue hence the "Patriot Radio" moniker. Norman Bel Geddes designed this radio in 1939. More here. Now here it is emblazoned on a USPS forever stamp. This was not his only radio, he designed for both Philco and Emerson in the 1930s and 1940s. Most notably the very collectible Emerson 544. Collectors love those art-decco designs. As an engineer I think about function primarily but design probably drove more sales over the years than anything. So from that point of view, guys like geddes mattered almost as much as DeForest and Marconi.
