96.7 WZPH-LP has goals. Some stations play 10 songs in a row. WZPH wants to play one million songs in a row. This is not as easy as it sounds. There are 1440 minutes per day. At 3.5 minutes per pop song you'd be lucky to clear 400 songs per day if you only manage to eek out a quick station ID at the top of the hour. At that pace, 400 songs per day works out to 146,000 songs per year. So we're looking at the 7 year plan.
The math was simple. But WZPH remains dedicated. In early 2009 they sent out a little press release because they'd finally cleared 750,000 songs in a row. That leaves a quarter million songs to go. Most of what they play is oldies... but they do take requests.
