1955 Radio Tower

This is a nice little video done on 8mm, probably Kodak film back in 1955. It's a edited silent documentary film of the construction of  a radio tower for the Texas Gas Transmission Corp. What's interesting is that it's very similar to the way we do things now. Towers are still made of modular parts, and either carried up, hoisted up or pulled on a gin pole. There are clearly some hijinks going on OSHA would never allow today, but it's illustrative as to how tower technology hasn't changed much in half a century.

At about 2:25 they shoot some video from the top of the tower which is neat because you get a full 360° of the work site.
