Stop Movin'

93.9 KMVN has dropped the Movin' Rhythmic AC format. Everybody off the train, full stop. Since there is no known gentle transition between Rhythmic AC and Spanish Contemporary they pressed the toggle button shortly after midnight. This is no ordinary flip, this is an LMA Emmis now has with Grupo Radio Centro a Mexican media corporation. More newsworthy than that, the deal seeks to transfer ownership of KMVN to GRC... a move that is presently illegal. The FCC foreign broadcasters to own American broadcasting licenses.

The old programming ran up to the last second.. The only nod was a single last spin of Donna Summer's "Last Dance." It ended hard ito a liner then a man made a short announcement in spanish immediately followd by Luis Miguel's "El Viajero."

The Rhythmic AC was a whopping 3 years old on KMVN, having debuted in August of 2006. Before that they were KZLA aset of calls they began using in 1978 immediately after KPOL-AM and KPOL-FM ceased to simulcast. KZLA was it's first brand, a Soft AC station. they went country in 1980 to compete with 570 KLAC-AM, and 930 KHJ-AM. They won that war and stuck with that format and were bought by Emmis in 2000.
