Broadcasting on 666 Mhz...

I am so amused by small things...
666 is the AM frequency of Lithuanian radio station Lietuvos radijas. It translates to Radio of Lithuania. It's also the last Lithuanian radio station that broadcasts in AM. All other stations reside in the FM band. There are only 15 total radio stations in Lithuania , which makes this AM to FM transition less impressive. Though, they may be the first nation to succeed in giving up the low-quality, high-aggravation AM radio band. If they do, kudos to them. More Lithuanian Radio here.

Lithuania has a totally different take on the responsibility of radio media to the public than we do. Much more on that here. In English no less. But without drowning you in tedious details. Let me leave you with this moment of Zen...

Advertising shall be prohibited on LRT programms:
1) on days of mourning announced by the State;
2) during broadcasts of state significance
3) during broadcasts intended for children
